Children's Dentistry
Children very much enjoy Dr. Hanser's chair-side manner. As a mom, she is able to build rapport with even the most introverted child.
Dr. Hanser recommends starting dental visits for children between the ages of two and three years old. She makes the process easy by having the child come in for a
pre-cleaning visit to get comfortable in the chair and eliminate the child's anxiety. This can be done at the same appointment for a parent or older sibling.
While the State of Illinois only requires dental
exams for those children entering kindergarten, second grade, sixth grade and ninth grade, Dr. Hanser recommends that
children be seen every six months. This provides early treatment of any cavities or other dental needs.
Sealants
Sealants are protective barriers to defend the chewing services of molars from plaque and acids that can cause decay and
cavities. Sealants involve a painless application of a material to the surface of the tooth.
A typical sealant usually lasts several years, and at each regular dental exam, Dr. Hanser will be able to determine
whether or not they need to be replaced.
While young children and teenagers are the most common candidates for sealants because the risk of decay begins
early, adults can benefit from sealants as well.
Kids No Cavity Club
Kids 12 and under who are cavity-free at their regular cleaning appointment will join the Kids
No Cavity Club. These kids will be entered into drawing for a $20 gift card for the month that they are cavity-free.
